YEAR UP NEW YORK-Program for 18-24 year olds

This is an excellent program for students who need an extra push, and the genuine few who are lost!  There is a Dec 15 initial deadline, so if you know anyone, tell them to get the application in ASAP.

YEAR UP New York is a unique, year-long training and corporate
internship program that prepares urban young adults for professional
careers and higher education.  Our mission is to close the Opportunity
Divide by providing urban talent with the skills, experience, and
support that will empower them to reach their potential.  Our
participants have an opportunity to:

Earn a stipend of up to $260 per week  and 10-16 free college credits
Learn in-demand technical, financial, and professional skills for 5 months
Succeed in 6 month corporate internships with Fortune 500 companies,
such as American Express, Citi, Google, Bloomberg, JP Morgan Chase and
others.
Belong to a community with on-going career support and guidance.

YEAR UP STUDENTS are ages 18-24, have a high school diploma or a GED,
and are hungry for an opportunity to learn and to succeed.  Our
success is our graduates: enabling them to participate in the economic
mainstream and become change agents in their lives, families, and
communities.  We have received excellent results to date:

Year Up NYC has served 497 young adults since its first class in 2006
Over 77% of our graduates are working and/or in college within four months
Our alum earn $35,000 a year on average, a tenfold increase in their
earnings prior to Year Up

ATTEND AN OPEN HOUSE TO GET STARTED

Open Houses are held at our Manhattan and Brooklyn sites.

They are held at our Manhattan office every Tuesday from 3:30-5:30pm
(located at 55 Exchange Place, on the 4th Floor).

Open Houses will be take place at our Brooklyn office on:

-Monday November 15th 3:30-4:30pm

Monday December 6th 3:30-4:30pm

-Monday December 13th 3:30-4:30pm

We are located on the 5th floor of the Chase bank building located at
9 Dekalb Ave
(a large white historic building adjacent to Junior’s).
The side entrance for Year Up is located on Fleet St, a few yards past
a set of grey gates.  Ring the buzzer to the left of the door, and
someone will let you in.  Take the elevators to the 5th Floor.

Suggested Deadline: December 15th 2010

Final Deadline: February 15th   2011

Classes Start: March 8th 2011

Applicants are admitted on a rolling basis.  Applications submitted
after the deadline will be considered based on availability and may
not be reviewed for admission for the term to which you intended to
apply.  Due to the high volume of applications we receive all
applicants are strongly encouraged to apply well before these
deadlines.

Follow these steps to apply:

1.      Recommended: visit our site (attend an Open House or set up
another time to come by, see above)

2.      Fill out an Interest Form online, at our office, or over the phone

3.      Call our admissions team to schedule an Interview.

4. & nbsp;     Before coming in for your interview, complete an Application,
which can be printed out from our website or obtained by visiting or
calling our office.  You will bring in your application when you come
in for your interview.
