The following information is from an e-mail sent by NYSACAC:
Please join NYSACAC in Albany on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 for Legislative Advocacy Day.
New York faces a budget deficit that reaches upwards of 9 billion. We are anticipating budget cuts and must be aware of those that are aimed at higher education. It is up to us to support our students by heading to Albany to fight for programs like HEOP, STEP/CSTEP, and Liberty Partnerships! The Tuition Assistant Program (TAP) may also be in jeopardy of cuts.
There is new leadership for New York and Governor Andrew Cuomo seems interested in working with higher education institutions on economic development projects. Institutions of higher education support many workers throughout New York. A well-educated workforce is what we need for New York to help to redevelop our economy. We must make this clear to legislators!
The budget will be released on or before February 1st.
