This message is from Marianne Booufall-Tynan:
Welcome back! We hope you have safely survived Mother Nature’s recent travails and can look to the coming school year with excitement—as we are here at Macaulay!
We just welcomed the astounding Class of 2015 to Macaulay—a talented and highly energized group of young people. Thank you so much for all the work you did to help make that happen! We look forward to working with you again this year and to meeting all the wonderful students who could become future Macaulay students as we gear up for the 2011 application season.
In its short history, Macaulay Honors College at CUNY has become one of the leading honors colleges in the nation, offering unrivaled benefits and support to the highly qualified students we attract. Not the least of these benefits is the freedom to pursue academic goals without financial burdens, thanks to the full-tuition merit scholarship. We also offer personalized advisement, $7,500 study grant to pursue global learning and service opportunities, a laptop computer and technological support, and more. Dean Ann Kirschner talks more about the Macaulay experience in this video.
This year, we are introducing an enhancement to our application process which we are sure will be a great benefit to your students. Applicants will be able to express a preference for up to six of the Macaulay campuses. You will hear more about that in the coming weeks, but if you would like to learn more now, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. The application is now available here.
Please mark your calendars and alert your students to our upcoming 2011 open houses, to be held at the Macaulay building at 35 West 67th Street in Manhattan:
· Thursday October 20
· Sunday, November 20
Students and counselors can register to attend by visiting our RSVP site.
Finally, you can keep up with Macaulay news and get a glimpse into Macaulay life by visiting our newsite, Macaulay Now, macaulay.cuny.edu/community/now. There you can register for our weekly e-mail digest, Macaulay Monday, and read more about Macaulay happenings. Recent news to share:
· Two Macaulay students at Hunter College, Maisha Lopa ’13 of Bronx High School of Science and David Weinberger ’12 of Irvington High School, were selected by Chancellor Goldstein as interns working with the high-profile NYC Regional Economic Development Council.
· Zujaja Tauqeer ’11 (Brooklyn College) of Brooklyn Tech High School, won a Rhodes Scholarship.
· The Truman Scholarship was awarded to Ayodele Oti ’12 (City College).
We look forward to speaking with you in the coming weeks. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if there is any support you need.
Best wishes for a wonderful semester,
