Seminar: Immigrant Students and the College Process
September 27th, 2011 9am-3pm
Description: This seminar, led by both legal and college access professionals, examines strategies and resources counselors can use as they help immigrant students through the college application and financial aid processes. Participants gain an understanding of different immigration statuses and their corresponding privileges and restrictions. Participants explore how status affects student eligibility for benefits relating to college, including state and federal financial aid, in-state tuition rates, and admission to college and the New York State opportunity programs (H/EOP, SEEK, CD).
Guest presentation by an attorney from the Legal Aid Society.
