This message is from Matthew Phifer:
The College Achievement through Urban Science Exploration (CAUSE) Project is a year-round program that combines environmental studies, research, field study, and a community service component with intensive college preparatory services for low-income minority youth living in underprivileged urban communities in New York City. The program is designed to encourage high-school juniors to explore science as a career track in emerging areas such as “green” technologies, ecology, sustainability, and environmental studies; and prepare them for the rigors of college and scientific research.
Students who complete the school year program will go to Cornell University for 3 weeks during the summer to take an actual Nature and Culture course there as part of Cornell Summer. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity that will immerse students in the college environment and give them an early introduction to the undergraduate experience. Students who are accepted are also guaranteed Free SAT Prep courses as part of the program. Please see below for the attached flyer and application.
