Student Aid and Opportunity Programs see increases in the 2014-15 New York State Budget

In this year’s New York State Budget, the Governor and state legislators supported TAP and Opportunity Program increases. Thank you for your efforts in standing up for student aid and sending messages of support for TAP. This grassroots support contributed to a positive outcome for our students. More than 25,000 messages from nearly 1,700 student aid supporters went to elected officials in Albany over 10 days in support of TAP! In this  40th anniversary year for TAP, lawmakers responded by increasing the maximum award by $165. This is the first TAP increase in more than 10 years and it helps to provide access and make college more affordable for New York State residents. We will use this improvement as the foundation for a sustained campaign to further increase the maximum award in the coming years. Additionally, Opportunity Programs including HEOP, STEP/C-STEP and Liberty Partnerships were also increased in this year’s budget.

Please send a thank you email to your legislators for their support of student aid!
