Hofstra and Test-Optional Admissions

Hofstra Univeristy on Long Island is the latest addition to the ever-growing list of schools that do not require applicants to submit ACT/SAT scores before admissions decisions are made.  Here’s a link to the school’s announcement of another option for high school juniors whose June SAT scores are posted online today.

FairTest’s complete directory of test-optional and test-flexible bachelor-degree granting institutions is available free online.

Supplemental files linked from that webpage include a list of 150+ such schools ranked in the top tiers of their respective categories (e.g. Hofstra) and a chronology of the more than 100 colleges and universities that have de-emphasized admissions test scores since the 2005 “comprehensive overhauls” of the SAT and ACT.
